Zwischen 1953 und 1977 wurden in Italien sieben Paul-Temple-H\u00f6rspielserien produziert. Italienische Fans m\u00fcssen oft etwas verwirrt gewesen sein, denn in jeder Serie wurden verschiedene Schauspieler als Paul Temple und Steve besetzt, die in einer Serie sogar in Betty umbenannt wurde. Mehrere Abenteuer wurden von dem bekannten Radioproduzenten Umberto Benedetto (1915-2003) inszeniert.<\/p>\n

In Italien wurde Francis Durbridge allerdings erst durch seine Fernsehmehrteiler ein Begriff. Zwischen 1963 und 1985 wurden neun Serien von der RAI produziert und zwei weitere BBC-Produktionen wurden auch in italienischer Synchronisation gesendet.<\/p>\n

Die Fernsehserien wurden jeweils von verschiedenen Produzenten und Regisseuren f\u00fcr die RAI realisiert, das Bindeglied zwischen ihnen war Franca Cancogni (1920-2022), die alle Drehb\u00fccher \u00fcbersetzte und zum Teil auch f\u00fcr das italienische Fernsehen adaptierte. Sie selbst war eine bekannte italienische Fernsehautorin.<\/p>\n

Wie bei den deutschen Produktionen wurden h\u00e4ufig \u00c4nderungen an der Handlung und den Figuren vorgenommen und auch das Format der Episoden ver\u00e4ndert. Man k\u00f6nnte sagen, dass sie an den italienischen Fernsehgeschmack angepasst wurden und daher f\u00fcr das britische Publikum vielleicht nicht sofort erkennbar waren. Dennoch besteht kein Zweifel an ihrem gro\u00dfen Erfolg in Italien, da die Mehrteiler in der Regel von den besten Fernsehregisseuren inszeniert und mit den popul\u00e4rsten Schauspielern der damaligen Zeit besetzt waren, darunter Rossano Brazzi und Alberto Lupo. Der Erfolg der Fernsehserien hat Antonio Scaglioni dazu veranlasst, ein Buch mit dem Titel \u201eFrancis Durbridge e la RAI\u201c zu schreiben, in dem er die Entwicklung der Serien beschreibt.<\/p>\n

Francis Durbridge war in Italien so ber\u00fchmt, dass der bekannte italienische Hollywood-Filmproduzent Dino de Laurentis ihn beauftragte, ein Treatment f\u00fcr einen Film zu schreiben, der auf einer bereits bestehenden Idee basierte. Das daraus resultierende Treatment hie\u00df ZAKARY. Es handelte sich dabei um einen Thriller, der im Japan der Zwischenkriegszeit spielte, aber leider \u2013 wie es bei Filmprojekten oft der Fall ist \u2013 nie produziert wurde.<\/p>\n

Leider wurden Francis Durbridges B\u00fchnenst\u00fccke in Italien nicht aufgef\u00fchrt. Wie er in dem auf dieser Website abgedruckten Interview mit einem italienischen Journalisten erkl\u00e4rt, waren Krimis zwar beim italienischen Publikum beliebt, doch die Theaterproduzenten hielten es f\u00fcr zu riskant, sie auf die B\u00fchne zu bringen.<\/p>\n
